IF you suspect that/or if you want to check to see if the frame rails have rusted/or the cover plate that holds the tank in place has rust now is your chance to remove them to repair them,it is advisable to check the frame rails since those areas CANNOT be seen with just a under the car visual check,this area tends to retain water and moisture because of the tight fit of the tank and the finishing plate.
