In-glass antennas have come back. "Radios of the day" is the operative phrase. I have had several modern cars (BMW) that have antennas in the rear glass and they work fine (at least until the antenna amplifier buried in the trunk fails). It's part of the OEM radio installation so I'm not sure how effective an amp would be in a DMC installation. Might be worth a try if you can find a good one.
