Harold is correct in what he is saying. I'll just add that that the top terminal is common and the black wire should go there (ground ) and the other wire on the ( original switch ) goes to the other terminal which is at the bottom and normally open. On our new replacement switches the ( NO ) is in the middle and that is where I put the terminal. Just be sure that black is top and other wire below that. Also, make sure that the micro switch isn't being used for the idle speed rest.
