Another way would be to build a current sensing circuit to work off the existing temp sender, that triggers an output (led, light, whatever) whenever the current flowing through sender (feeding the gauge) gets to a certain level. Though since Deloreans have temp gauges, there really isn't a need for an idiot light such as this. Especially in a spot not immediately in front of the drivers line of sight like the rest of the instruments.
