[DML] The Rear View Mirror Issue (Dave Clarification)

Sorry Dave, not exactly the answer I was looking for. Been on the list for a
long time and purchased quite a few of those little pads. Obviously, they
aren't doing the trick. Let me clarify: WE seem to be the only ones that
have this strange window cracking problem. Both the Delorean OEM as well as
the aftermarket windshield appear to have this problem and I assume they
come from different manufacturers. Is it due to the geometry of the glass or
poor materials or both? I've never actually seen these cracks but I have
heard the stories. Anyway, the underlying reason for my question is as
follows: I have an Auto-Dimming mirror that is just a bit too heavy for the
pad. As a rule, when I leave my car out in the sun for any extended length
of time, I find the mirror hanging from its power cord. So I've been looking
for a decent alternative. Unfortunately, I don't want to experiment too
much. That could result in a new windshield. So, it's not really all that
obvious and the $2 dollar fix just doesn't do the trick. (Yes, I did wipe
the shoe and the glass with alcohol to remove any residue that might be on
the glass.) Thanks.

Obviously the ultimate "responsibility" for this, as well as the rest
of any design elements of the car, rests with an entity that went out
of business about 23 years ago.
