[DML] It's the little things that bug me

Hey gang,
Recently I noticed the cigar lighter light wasn't on in my console so I replaced the unit since the old was slightly messed up.  The lighter works as normal but the light stays on all the time and only goes off when the headlight switch is turned on-just the opposite of how it is supposed to work according to the fuse descriptions in the owner's manual.  I'm sure there is a simple solution but can anyone point me in the right direction towards getting the light to function correctly in conjunction with the switch? 
I went from no light to light all the time!
