A "quick and dirty" test of the cold start valve would be to remove the injector from the air tube and stick it in a container still connected to the fuel line and the electrical connector. While an assistant tries to start the motor (when cold) you should see the injector squirt fuel while the motor is cranking. Observe common sense precautions while working on an open fuel injection system. Wear eye protection and have a fire extingusher handy. Be warned, just because you appear to have similar symptoms, this does not mean you have the same problem. Similar symptoms can have different causes.
