For cleaning you can try soap and water, alcohol, simple green, windex, etc. I use Clean One from Snap-On. It really works but so do the other things I mention, just not as well. I finish with Windex, it leave the surface streak-free, and not sticky. Any good epoxy should be OK for repairing the posts.
