I've cruised down the freeway @ 90mph+ with the cruise locked. I've got many many hours of cruise control use in now and have never had a problem. Further -- due to the angle at which my installation pulls on the throttle spool, it isn't even capable of pulling it far enough to cause the cable to fall off.
