If you look at the history the car did not turn out like Allstate expected. It was not the "safety car" that was intended. The Bricklin was also backed by Allstate and in it's time was much more of a "safety car". I give Allstate a lot of credit for trying but it didn't work out, at least in the case of the Delorean. BTW do you know what the -12 was supposed to mean in DMC-12? The car was supposed to be $12,000!!!!! That didn't work out either.
