This is going to take a little troubleshooting. I am guessing a problem with the RPM relay, a weak fuel pump, a kinked or bad fuel pick-up hose, or a combination of the above. It could also be a problem with the bypass relay for the ballast resistor, weak coil, cold start valve system, worn plugs, bad ignition wires. Start with the fuel tank. Drain and inspect it and and all the parts inside. Next, when you try to start it cold watch the fuel pump to see how long it runs. It should run for more than a couple of seconds. Next see if there is power on the cold start valve while the engine is cranking.
