Not that I'm necessarily defending Jesse's actions, but this is a cut and pasted actual comment from him concerning the MG Delorean episode. "I'M A TOTAL A**HOLE!!........I WAS PRETTY SUPRISED BY THE WAY I ACTED ...DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT A D**KHEAD I WAS........I'M THE REASON WHY IT FAILED...BY LACK OF LEADERSHIP AND A C R A P P Y ATTITUDE.....JUST WANNA SAY SORRY.......I WONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE........WFW (this is from the online forum page for Monster Garage on their website, Jesse's screen name is Vanilla Gorilla) It's obvious by this statement, that on review of the show, Jesse felt like he acted inappropriately, and in fact, this was the first show to ever have a member of the crew kicked off, in no small part because of Jesse's attitude. Although this is the first episode that I've ever seen of MG, I will probably watch some others just to put his actions into more context, and to compare this show to others. I get the feeling that MG isn't really about putting any car on a pedestal and treating it with respect, it's more about ripping stuff apart and making something completely different. Did the windows a body panels need to be trashed? Probably not, but the shows not about restoring cars, it's about ripping them apart. Why would they treat the Delorean any different? It was sad to see the car crumpled at the end, (especially considering I don't own one yet), but if anyone has seen the warehouse at DMC in Houston, it looks like they have enough parts to last the entire Delorean community a very long time. As far as the reputation of the car goes, you will always have people that criticize something they don't understand. Do you think Jesse knows the history of the car, the effort it took to just get it into production, the sacrifices made, or the attention it gets compared to cars that cost twice as much. Did anyone see Jesse's bike, or Jesse's tattoos? He's into chopper's and '54 Chevy's (says so in his bio). To a guy like this, the typical Delorean owner is going to come off as nerdy or dorky. How do you think Jesse would react towards a Lotus or a Maserati? The guys he hangs around have modified Impalas. I can tolerate one or two older guys making stupid jokes about the car, when the younger crowd, especially kids under 10, look at the Delorean like it's the coolest thing they've ever seen. After all, in 20 years, these kids will have money, and they won't remember the cocaine jokes or the failure of the company, they'll remember the spaceship they saw, and they'll buy it. P.S.: I'm ready to see them hack up a Pontiac Aztek, really rip apart a vehicle that deserves it. (now I'll have the Aztek owners after me) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian McCool" <bjmccool@xxxx> To: "Dmcnews@Yahoogroups. My wife and I weren't sure what to think, since we don't watch the series on a regular basis. Jesse James seemed to hate the initial idea at first, but then he actually got into it and seemed mad at the end when they weren't able to pull it off by the time limit. I went to the Monster Garage site and read a little into the forum page about this episode and peoples comments about it. Here's the link: > > http://discovery.infopop.net/1/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=6941912904&f=9951983295&m=3211967086 > > !!Warning!! Not all the comments are positive towards the Delorean itself (which I don't understand, since the car itself isn't as important as what they are trying to accomplish with it on the show). The first posting is from Jesse and he even admits he messed up by not being in on the project from day one and was rougher on the guys than he should have been. I also read that Jesse and the producers pick and approve the project, so regardless of how he reacted at first, he wanted to do the project to begin with. > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: > moderators@xxxx > > For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com > > To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews > > Your use of Yahoo!
