The advance solenoid will receive 12V for energizing at all times, but will not cut off vacuum like it should above 104degF w/o a proper ground at the idle speed switch (the lower wire on the back of it, should be black i think....). it is working correctly if the car is hot, at idle, and there is no vacuum in the hose that goes to the vacuum advance -on the distributor - .
