Don't get discouraged Adam. I know what it's like. I'd wanted a DeLorean since I was a small child. But it took me being very active in the DeLorean community for 2 years before my parents finally got the idea that my desire for a DeLorean wasn't going to ever go away... and that I had done all necessary homework to own one. I met a DeLorean owner when I was 17, and he pointed me to the DML. It took two years of involvement in the list, going to numerous DeLorean gatherings, meeting countless owners, and going to look at many cars before my parents finally caved. In the end I'm very glad they made me wait. There were a couple of cars I wanted BAD when I was first started out... I guess mainly I wanted them because they were in my price range at the time. I look back now and am so thankful my parents made me hold out... because I looked at some seriously skanky DeLoreans... LOL. I ended up buying the type of DeLorean I wanted in the end (grey interior, 5-speed),and the car turned out to be the previous owners only car (it was his daily driver). The car came with receipts from the past two years totalling more than I even bought the car for... which was $12,000. So in the end waiting was a good thing. I not only got the type of car I wanted cosmetically, but I got an extremely good running driver as well. So think of waiting as ablessing in disguise. Don't give up... amass knowledge of the car as much as possible... and keep badgering Dad. At some point he'll see how knowledgable you are about the car, and he might just decide you're ready to own one! Good luck on your path to ownership, and let us list members know if there's anything we can do to aid you.
