Hey James A problem very similar to yours happened to me a few months ago. The last thing I did before my gauge went wacky was to free the passageway from the floor vent where the carpet was blocking it. My gauge was off for about a week, then it healed itself. It hasn't done it since (until, of course, I sit back down in my car after I type this message!). I'm curious about this too, and would like to know what to do if it happens to me again.
