Vandalism wasn't a concern with the gas flapped hood, all the ones that had gas flaps had a locking gas cap (used the ignition key). The stamping process used in making the flap cut out broke too many hoods... it was cheaper to do away with the flaps in order to make the simpler hood... this was the same reason they eventually nixxed the styling lines too. In my opinion the lines and flap were both better than without. But actually I'm starting to like having to open the hood to fuel up... garner even more attention :P (I used to have a gas flapped car... I no longer do) james 04009
