Re: [DML] Gas Flap.

Jim and James,

Since my car was a basket case to start with. The cost/ risk of damaging the hood was minimal So I did it and am really happy with the results.

I ordered the NOS gas doors a few year ago. They were under $100. There are a few brackets that go with them and some bumpers. I made some of my own.

When you cut the hood opening you need to undersize it so you can bend the edges down just like on the original hoods. It helps to have a original gas door hood to copy from, but I didn't have one.

It helps to have a sheet metal bending tool used for duct work. It is a set of vise grip with two flat plates on them. This give you the square edge to bend the edges and lightly hammer against to get square edge. You can practice doing this on some spare sheet metal. The Delorean stainless is pretty soft so it not hard to work with.

I will post some pictures in a few days.
