You may well have fluid squishing past piston(s -- haven't examined mine yet, anybody know if DMC has 2) in the master cylinder. On my domestic vehicles this has always been the weak link, overwhelmingly more so than calipers. Quick way to check -- cap off brake lines at master cylinder (honest to goodness threaded inserts, not plastic or rubber plugs) and activate pedal. If it moves, you need a new master cylinder.
