Painted Factory Cars?

Hey DeLorean Guru's

I need some help with the cronology of the DeLorean in the "1983 
Production Year", if you want to call it that.

I have a guy who is selling a Black exterior DeLorean, and it looks 
perfect, just like it came from the factory. Actualy, he claims that 
as well. I know there was a topic here about this 2 years ago, but 
my seach utility isnt fully functional yet, (availible March 2003) 
and I was wondering, I knew DeLorean had a plan for painted cars, 
anyone who read Stainless Steel Illusion can tell you that, but I 
wondered with all of the lay offs and hurry mode the people were in 
the latter 82' production year, would they have time to factory paint 
a few cars?

I want to tell this bum that the car was painted sometime after 
factory, however something just occured to me, there were a "FEW" 
painted cars from Dealers at that time, although not originaly from 
the factory. Anyway, i told him i wasnt interested, stainless is the 
way to go. (besides that, its perfect) I just need someone to tell 
me if this could have been factory, or dealer. Thats all i need to 
know.
