Andy, This is a common problem and a "quick fix" that I have used on a few Deloreans over the years is to use a large, stainless steel hose clamp over the pipe and the heatshield. This is a semi-permanent fix that will last until you can spend the time for a complete fix. This will get rid of your mid RPM buzz. Hope this helps.
