Re: Fuel tank baffle

I just replaced my baffle. I ordered a new one from DMC Houston,
expecting there to be a bottom plate, but came with just the main
baffle piece. I called DMC and asked about the bottom. I was told that
it is no longer available, but that it is not needed. When the baffle
is attached securely to the bottom of the tank, the tank itself seals
the bottom edge of the baffle. Also, I tried the position of the
baffle both ways, left side, and back and it makes no difference. I
ended up pointing it rearward.

On a related note, my original problem was that the car would surge
and stall on turns with a low tank. The problem was NOT the baffle,
which was installed properly, but the hose connecting the pump to the
filter inside the baffle was cracked at the pump connection. When the
tank got low, below the level of the crack, the pump was sucking air
through the crack. I trimmed the hose down below the crack and
reattached it to the pump.
