There are many different kinds of plastic materials. I assume that these wraps in your engine compartment, that are still good and flexible after 20 years are simply not Nylon! I for myself know why I don't use Nylon for outside applications. I use plenty of them in inside applications (e.g. to bundle wires together for better looks and tidiness). But I will never use them again for applications that are exposed to weathering. I did this once and they failed after 2 years, because they were exposed to sunlight. Admittedly, the amount of sunlight in the D engine compartment isn't that big, but... better be safe than sorry. May anyone decide for himself. My 2 Euro-Cents :-) Ralf. VIN10284
