The car will run hotter because antifreeze is not as efficient at removing heat from the engine and giving it up at the radiator. You really should drain the system and refill it with the proper mixture. For maximum heat transfer, you should use straight water with some water wetter. Water wetter reduces the surface tension of the water, which improves it's heat transfer characteristics. Do not add water wetter to an antifreeze mix. It won't help and may reduce the effectiveness of the antifreeze in cold temperatures. Will running straight antifreeze through your car cause it to get hotter? Last week I had a coolant leak and lost nearly all of it. I didn't have any water so I fixed the leak and put in straight antifreeze.(almost 2 gallons if I remember correctly) I have left it this way because a friend said it doesn't matter at all, mixing it just saves money. Is this right?
