It sounds like either air in the system or a stuck thermostat. In any case remove the thermostat, bleed the system and see if that fixes the car. If it does order a new thermostat, this is what the shop will do anyway! To confirm a stuck thermostat put it in a pot of water on the stove with a thermometer and heat up the water. It should start to open around 180 degrees.
