Skipper asked - > Does anyone know how much HP a manual can safely handle? My estimated HP is 300 (which may be a little optimistic) and last year, accelerating "rapidly" in 3rd on a freeway onramp, I had a sudden transmission failure. Suspecting a twisted-off input shaft, I was close - there is a splined coupler that mates the input shaft to the mainshaft. It is a flimsy piece with large spaces between sets of splines, and made of soft metal. I had a new one made which is bulletproof, but also must consider that maybe this piece was made that way for a reason - think "fuse". Anyway, its working great now. But I still don't recommend burnouts.... -- Darryl Tinnerstet Specialty Automotive McCleary, WA
