Might try disconnecting the kickdown microswitch --one of the two that are actuated by the throttle spool at wide open throttle. The other one cuts off the A/C compressor. Unplug both if you can't easily tell which is which. There's an inline connector a few inches downstream from the switches; just separate them there and drive the car. If the switch is the culprit the car will now drive fine, but won't downshift when you floor it. The switch is supposed to cause a 3 to 2 (or even to first, depending on vehicle speed) downshift when you floor the accelerator. I've only seen one of these switches fail, but it caused erratic downshifts when cruising along in third, ocasional strange upshift points, and some second gear hold problems. Worked fine when it was cold. Longshot, but worth a try. \\ Mark > Pete, thank you for the help, but my mechanic (who knows DeLoreans > pretty well, at least better than any other mechanic in my area) > said they already isolated the problem.
