I am of the opinion (untested) that if you prefer a manual transmission, you could probably mate the Porsche G50 transmission, which was the manual trans used in the same car. Porsche transmissions are fairly standard, in fact, and you could *probably* get almost any 911 trans to fit if you wanted. Of course you will have to adapt the clutch and shift linkage, but you will be spared the computer issues. (And you still need an oil cooler) :}
