[DML] Cleaning Corrosion

Hi, What is the best method for cleaning corroded wire connections (i.e. 
The plug that connects the power to the tail-light circuit board, and the 
board itself). I have had suggested to me using a file, or coca-cola to 
clean them, but I wanted to know if there is a solvent or very effective way 
to do this first. I also am going to be cleaning all fuse-box connections, 
and various connections in the engine compartment.
