Erik,

The part you're describing is the fuel distributor. My limited understanding 
is that the gas travels through the fuel distributor before being sent to the 
individual cylinders. You have a serious problem!!! My mechanic has told 
me, as have several D owners, that a new distributor costs around $1800 to 
$2000.

There is another possibility, however. Call Python Corporation in Stanton, 
CA at 1-800-959-2865. I've been told that they rebulid the Bosch fuel 
distributors that are found on the DeLorean at a very reasonable price. I've 
never used this company so I cannot vouch for their work, but my mechanic has 
used them for this very operation, and he speaks very highly of them. 
Perhaps someone on the list has had Python rebuild a fuel distributor for 
them and can tell you the results.
