Kristen, The DeLorean cooling system is extremely efficient and the hottest daytime temperatures (110+) should not cause the cooling system to run hot. The most common cause of a constantly high temperature is trapped air in the coolant lines. The problem is easily corrected by bleeding the excess air out of the system. The cooling fan system is also responsible for keeping the engine cool when driving in stop & go traffic or idling. Problems in the fan circuit can cause high temperature readings. I am a little concerned about the oil light. It is probably caused be a defective warning light sender. When the warning light comes on what is the oil pressure gauge reading ? If the gauge reads below the halfway mark you may have a more serious problem. We've been assuming that this is due to the unusually hot weather we've been having, but it did it again last night and it was really cool out. It took a long time for the temp to come back down and he still had to coast half way home. Also, he's noticed that the oil light has been going on when it's really hot out, but that also happened last night. Any suggestions? (I think I'd be his hero if I came home with the answer to his problems) Thanks a lot. --krit BTW, although I don't post very often, I really enjoy being a part of this list.
