Greg, Before you jump to conclusions let me share some information with you. A very common problem with the DeLorean is that when the number four exhaust gasket fails (begins to leak) it emits a sound that resembles a valve noise. This noise is loudest in the area of the distributor. To check this out get a length of hose about two feet long and while the engine is idling probe one end of the hose in the area of cylinder number four while holding the other end to your ear. If it's a leaky manifold you will hear it. Let me know the results.
