The only companies that make large quantities of rear-engine transmissions are Porsche and Volkswagen. Go to a junkyard and take some measurements if you want. I'm willing to bet either would fit reasonably well in the space, although you might have to modify the plastic body shell especially for the VW which is quite funny looking. Transaxle swapping is a nontrivial task because, everything has to line up, and the odds of that are small. It is much harder than swapping a transmission for a front engine/rear wheel drive car. In addition to having to physically fit, the distance from the input to the output has to be the same both in length and height. And, the axles have to be modified, usually, because the splines won't be the same, or the axle is the wrong length, or both. Then you have to make the mounts... Swapping a transmission to a different type should be considered about like swapping an engine to a different type. You should not do it to fix a problem, but only because you want to, because you are almost guaranteed to create more problems than you solve. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: http://www.egroups.com/group/dmcnews http://www.egroups.com - Simplifying group communications
