OK all you techno wizards, this ones for you. When I connect a 2.2 microFarad capacitor across the ignition pulse coil, not only does my tach flickering disappear but the idle settles down to an almost rock steady 775rpm from the usual hunting 800 - 1200. Thus this "solved" my three problems, flicker, high idle and hunting all at once. I say "solved" because the car won't rev above 1100 rpm with the capacitor there. What's your diagnosis!
