I have noticed similar issues with other cars relating to the oxygen sensor, I would assume similar symptoms would happen with the DeLorean. What I have had to do to fix it was disconnect the sensor when having issues, then the car would work fine. The problems I have had are really intermittent too, so I would look into the oxygen sensor, possibly replacing it.
