In several respects my vehicle differs from what the VIN indicates it should have come with (1982 style door pulls for example), so there's no telling whether it left Dunmurry with 1 or 2 keys. I have to file shoulders off an X29 blank (lengthening the keyway) to make it work in my ignition, which would indicate 2 key heritage. And now that you mention it: my key does bottom out in the door cylinders, which would indicate a shorter original. I don't mind it bottoming out because it allows me to flip the mass of other keys away from the stainless with my free fingers. I know all about mega key rings. Am currently carting around 23, with another 3 on the way. Both are bilaterally symmetrical, but the length of the door key is significantly shorter than the ignition key. The two key system on 1063 works just fine, but I do plan on installing one of Toby's keyless entry/launcher systems in the next couple of months so I don't have to worry about breaking it and finding a replacement. > > Your car should have come with the same key to work both door and ignition, but who cares, eh? Just be glad you don't have to carry around the old lighted door key. I'd swear sometimes I need to tighten my belt when I put my keys in my pocket. :-) > > "Are those your DeLorean keys, or are you just happy to see me?" > > Jake Kamphoefner > 1063 > To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
