Mike, I have re threaded many holes but I have never drilled one out and retapped it to a larger size. Did you try putting a small piece of metal in the hole like a paper match and then re insert the 7mm screw. That would tighten it enough to hold most likely. I have even used tin foil. If you need to retap. Then practice with a piece of wood. I have never retapped a hole and whilst i have purchased a new tap and dye set there are no instructions / advice on how to do this.? Thinking of putting in a 8mm thread for a new bolt, will i need to redrill the hole or am i ok using the existing.......
