Hi James, Interesting idea... I was aware of that hole on some cars (I'm not sure about mine, I've never had it off), but it seems like a rather indirect route for the air to travel for pressure release. In addition, I've never noticed doors close with more difficulty on later cars without the hole. I guess I always just attributed lack of difficulty closing the doors to the "rolling" motion of the door closure. That is, the top part of the seal first, working it's way down to the doorsill. I would figure if that much thought was put into cabin pressure release, it would have been designed more efficiently. Then again, I've certainly been wrong before... Have you ever found any documentation on that mystery hole?
