The amp rating is to let you know what it CAN
produce..  Amperage output is based on the total load
of the car.  If you only need 90A, the 140A will give
you a decent buffer.

If you have no extra electrical add-ons, you could
save some money by using a smaller unit..  but dont
worry about "too much power".
