You may have a point on this one, I never said I was an "audio" engineer, only "video" - HA! In an effort to solve this issue, I am going to consult with my friends at "Crank It Up Car Audio", they build competition audio systems. I will show them my wire configuration, and ask them if it is correct, and if not what is the correct way to do it. If I find I have done it wrong then I will be more than happy to eat humble pie here on the DML and give out the correct diagram.
