Aluminum and SS are relatively far apart in the Galvanic Series, which means that there is a good potential for high galvanic cell voltage. Of course, for this to be a problem, you need an electrolyte between the metals. Unless it is submerged or lives in a very humid climate, it shouldn't be a problem. If galvanic corrosion does occur, the aluminum will be the anode so the SS will not be harmed. I noted that the flaps shown all appear to be aluminum so that brings up another issue for me. Can anyone give me a definitive answer with respect to (and I may be stating this wrong here but it's the best I can do) dissimilar metal galvanic corrosion between stainless and aluminum? Is it a problem or not? Ed 10541 > I am thinking of installing a custom gas flap.
