Getting off the turnpike today, I noticed my engine getting warmer than I like. I pulled over on the ramp, and discovered my cooling fans weren't running. Totally forgetting the ability to use the A/C to control my fans, I jump my otterstat. My fans now are running, I cool off my car a bit, and complete my commute. After a day at work and a quick call to PJ Grady to add a new otterstat to mt most recent parts order, I am reminded that I can use the A/C to force the fans on when required. Confident that I can keep an eye on the temp, I reconnect my otterstat the way it's supposed to be (to give it a second chance to behave), and drive home. Much to my surprise, it all behaves properly for the entire drive... although the temp seems to hover a bit higher than I am accustomed to, the fans cut in and out on their own, and I never quite get to the point where I feel like I need to force the fans on, even in stop-and-go traffic. Does this sound like a normal failure mode for an otterstat, or was I perhaps suffering from something simpler like a dirty connection? Thanks in advance. Owned the car for like half a year, and I still feel like a neophyte. --Scott To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews Yahoo!
