Hey guys,
I took my car out for an extended drive. Now it's dirty and it's
colder than a witch's teat outside.
Of course I prefer to hand wash my DeLorean but it's too cold for
that. Due to the ventilation grilles on the engine cover, is it a bad
idea to run a DeLorean through an automatic, drive-in car wash such
as the types commonly found at gas stations?

This seems like an extremely odd question, but how many DeLoreans do
you suppose exist in Nigeria? One of the first parts inquiries that
we have received is from Nigeria, and for a fairly large number of
parts. The originator of the message appears to be serious about
buying all of these parts and having them shipped home. I know that
there are a number of scams that start in that country, but he wants
me to run his credit card for the purchase. Any thoughts on the
matter would be welcome.

Besides possibly needing a tune up with fresh parts (spark plugs, air
filter, ignition wires) the most common causes are vacuum leaks (old
rubber hoses crack, split, and don't seal well) or the Lambda system
isn't working (first check the relay that supplies power to the Lambda
system, they seem to have a high failure rate).

Another brake bleed is a likely solution. But in addition to what has
been said already, it is possible that the hard stop caused the brake
pad surfaces to glaze. This reduces the effectiveness of the friction
material and can givea "mushy" pedal. Pull the pads out and rub the
friction face of them on some coarse sandpaper to fix it. Be careful
not to come in contact with any of the dust of course. Also, fresh
brake fluid can quickly attack old flexible brake hoses, making them
so soft that they bulge under brake fluid pressure ("mushy" pedal
again) Hoses can even swell to the point where they restict fluid
movement or even block completely, although this is very unlikely in
your case.
BTW, its so good to find that everyone here says "brakes" instead
of "breaks", as lots of folks seem to do other places :)

Hey group,
I'm working on one of those reproduction window stickers from mid-state dmc club right now. Does anyone know what the dealers name from San Francisco is? I'll need a full address and everything. I'm thinking it was Stanford Lincoln-Mercury in Menlo Park, because I've got a lot of reciepts for work done to the car from the mid '80s from there. Also, wasn't the port of entry for the west coast San Diego? There is also a number in parenthesis next to the "shipped to (dealer name and address)" in the top right hand corner. What is this, and is there any way of knowing what number mine is supposed to be? How do I find out what my engine number is too?
My next question is I saw an online store a while back that carried large DeLorean vinyl wall banners. I've lost the link to it, does anyone know what I'm talking about? And has anyone bought one of these, and if so, what's your opinion of them? There's also a guy who sells large aluminum "DMC" letters on ebay to hang on your wall. There's one on ebay now, Item number: 2447765138. Has anyone bought a set of these, and if so what did you think of them? Thanks for putting up with my mindless ramblings... lol.

A number of things could be at issue here - however, generally,
since you say it dies, the problem is probably spark related. Like
not enough. Check all of the connections at the resistor, the coil
wire (be sure it is not damaged and fully inserted), the connections
at the coil and probably the coil itself.

O.K today and a fellow delorean, who is nice enough to not only help me fix my car but keep it at his house for weeks on end now, with hours and hours of labor into it I can't say thanks enough. Anyway, we put all new gaskets and o-rings on the top half of the engine and all vacum lines are hooked up right, but there still is no power on acelleration. It idles okay but could it be the C.P.R? Because fuel pressure is about 70 both before the C.P.R which is way to high and also at the F.D. cold or hot it is the same. Or do I have another problem downline of the C.P.R. the rest pressure is about 43 and the leak down time checks with the manual so I don't know.

We are still upgrading the web page and will be adding more information over
the next few weeks.
Registration materials will be ready very shortly and will be on the
registration page in time for Christmas.
If you have not seen the web page lately you may want to check out the guests
on Saturday and the guess who's coming to Pigeon Forge section.
Pricing for the show has been determined and the registration page has been
designed and is in the final editing process so be patient we are almost Ready
There are plenty of rooms but remember this is a summer vacation hot spot and
many hotels will be filling up starting Jan 1. We have plenty of rooms but
we will need to return any unbooked rooms 30 days before the show so please do
not wait to register. The room reservations is almost 50% more at this point
as it was for Memphis at this time so we are looking forward to another great
turnout. (go to hotel on the web page for more info)
The Raffle car will have a section of its own later in Jan. and we will
update you as to its progress and location.
We plan to move the car around a bit over the next 6 months.
For those of you that have not seen on the web page Claudia Wells (Jennifer

have had with her, this is going to be a great time as she is looking forward

I have been scammed by people in Nigeria and Indonesia. They will say,
process the card and even wait 30 days to ship it. The problem is that you
will get a charge back 60 days later and you will fight it for months. I
sold some stuff back in May and I am still fighting charge backs.
If they want it, have them send the money via Western Union. You get cash
that way and you are safe.

black book in there called "dealer list", that would tell you.
I have seen this list reporduced on the net several times but I forget
where.

You are right to be suspicious. DO NOT deal with ANYONE from Africa,
Nigeria in particular. It seems there is a whole industry around
fraudulant money schemes. I personally have received counterfeit
cashier's checks from people in Nigeria. The bank will give you cash
for it when present it but when it is found to be bad they will take
the money back from you and you will be out the mechandise. Worse
still, these people will usually send you a check for more than the
deal and ask for cash back from you! Now you are out REAL money AND
the merchandise! These people troll websites that have things
advertised for sale and are not interested in the merchandise, they
are just going to scam you for cash! Tell them to send a cashier's
check for the EXACT amount (in American dollars of course) and let
them know you will deposit the money and wait 2 weeks for it to clear
before releasing ANYTHING if you still want to go ahead and try to
deal with them. They have turned the saying "buyer beware" around! Now
it is the seller that has to worry. Don't think that you will insult
them, just say that this is the way you will do business with anyone
not in the USA. If the deal falls through don't give it a second
thought because it was never a real deal at all. Anyone who is "real"
will easily agree to your terms. "Be careful out there" In the event
the credit card is actually good I would guess it was stolen so you
are aiding a thief and in essance receiving stolen goods (money). This
could come back to bite you especially if the card was stolen in the
US. It could look like you are part of the scheme!

my father owns a car wash and as long as you clear the height of the track and
don't scrape along it you will be fine. I do notice sometimes my passenger
mirror flips backwards but that's nothing serious. I also don't use a broom on

Man, was it cold out there early this morning, but even in
this bitter cold, the D Rex and GT40 RC started up at 5am.
Everything went well with everything Steve and I had to do,
but of course, you cannot control everything that happens.
What is it about interviewers that they wait until the last
minute to shoot some video, then do not follow directions.
I refer to this as the "Dennis Gage" syndrome and those
of you at the Evansville Car Show last year know what I
mean. Dennis tried to start the D Rex several times with
the push button start without the ignition switch turned on.
Yes, it happened again - they just do not follow directions.
They cannot start D Rex on camera, then I start it OK off
camera. Oh well, that's showbiz. At least they did the first
segment of the interview with me with both the D Rex and
the GT40 RC running in the background, so at least viewers
heard both vehicles running and know they worked just fine.
The segments were shot with the temperature in the single
digits and the wind chill at about -10 degrees by 7am.
Needless to say the door struts did not hold the doors on
the D Rex all the way open, adding to some disappointment.
Overall, the segments went well and if anyone looked like
they didn't know what to do, it was the two interviewers.
I'm sure Tamir will will cut a couple of segments down and
post them to both his website and my D Projects website.
BTW: We were asked to come back next spring, when the
weather is a little warmer for more outside LIVE TV.

Andy, I read that if you take the electrical plug off of the thermo
time switch and while someone tries to start the car use a jumper
wire and from the blue wire touch to fround, if car starts, its the
thrmo time swich, well, i did that and car didnt start , was
wondering what to try next

I have recently heard of friends receiving large orders for
merchandise (books in that case) from Nigeria. The scam is to offer a
forged/stolen credit card. Once they receive the goods they resell

According to my Bosch book, a high Cold and Warm system pressure indicates a
restriction in the return line from the Control Pressure Regulator.
Remove both hoses from the CPR and look down into the holes. You should see
a wire mesh screen in the bottom of the supply line hole. This sometimes
gets plugged up. Use shop air to blow it out. Also check the hose itself for
blockage.
Check that the frequency valve is buzzing also.

I have taken mine through touch-free washes w/o a problem, but i hate it.
the soap removes the tire dressing and other shine enhancing products you
probably have all over your louvers and lights and rub strips and such. you might
find some water leaks too under the pressure. won't hurt anything though
unless your louvers and engine covers are already broken.
