I've found that working with the 3M Super Weatherstrip Adheasive you
must apply it thin to both surfaces, let it skin over for a few
minutes, re-apply to one surface, and then bond. This method has
worked well for me.

From what I heard, they had the item for sale at the Universal Studios theme
park, for the Back to the Future ride. I don't know if they still have them

Dale,
you could replace the cat with a cat eliminator pipe
(http://www.dmc-service.nl/Uk/Index_Uk.htm), then you will help free up the
exhaust a bit (Ed Uding claims a 10hp increase) and there won't be any extra
heat generated from a cat so the heatshield is unnecessary.

You're not the minority Bill,
While you're ALL THE WAY down in that area of the engine, why not
remove 4 more bolts. I broke a bolt on the pump.. but the four on the
internal water pipe weren't even hard to remove for me.
Granted; you can't just leave on out (like I did the water pump's) if
it breaks.
But be careful Mark, when putting in those little orings.. it's easy
to knock one out of place and end up pinching it with the water
pipe... then when you don't test the pressure cooling system and just
put everything back together... you'll have twice the fun doing it
all all over again.
But who the hell would put everything back together with testing the
pressure?? Surely not me.
Step two is giving up and shipping the car to Grady, and spending
twice what you had expected. And knowing it was worth every penny.
And if you're not already -- give the car a tune up, and replace the
spark plugs and etc and fuel injectors while you have the intake
manifold off. Then pray.

You can't remove epoxy with chemicals. It has to be removed
mechanically. If the frame is off the car the most effiecint method is
sandblasting. If the body is still on the only way is with an angle
grinder with a wire wheel. If it is an area you can use a lot of heat
(not near fiberglass or anything flammable) then use a torch to soften
the epoxy and scrape it off. This is a potentially dangerous procedure
so be careful with the flame. An industrial heat gun may get it hot
enough but I know it can be done with an acetalyne torch just watch
where you point the flame! If you are only doing spots then this is a
good way. Feather sand the edges of the paint, wire brush the metal,
prime and then spray with Krylon Smoke Grey. You can get it in Home
Depots and it is a very close match. Working in the crumple tube area
I would suggest you remove the gas tank or at least drain it of all
fuel and vapors.

Ok, now here's a baffler.
Got a pair of seats that I'm going to recover. First off, I'll never say
that the D seats were ever half-heartedly built, because of two words.
Hog
rings. Darn there are a lot of them there!! Ok, so, got main back of the
seats pulled and the foam exposed. Problem is when you get to the
headrest. (I'm sure some of you already know where I am going with
this.) ok, so that little notch of leather between the main seat and the
headrest is a nice addition, but is a pain to work around. Two sets of
hog rings holding that together. Ok, so I dealt with that and now here
is the problem. How do I get the covers off the headrest without
damaging the foam? And worse yet, how do I get new covers back on and
the hog rings into spaces to re-establish that "notch" ?
Am I in for any other surprises? It makes me wonder how they covered
these things in the first place.

Howdy-
I was catching the last of "My Classic Car" just now, and at the end I saw a
line of DeLoreans and such. It was good times. Then I saw Dennis Gage get
into the D-Rex and start 'er up. That was awesome. I was simply amazed,
though, since I had met him at an auto show in Minnesota less than a month
ago, the World of Wheels. I had asked him what he thought of DeLoreans, and
he said that they were "cool cars, but underpowered." He liked the gullwing
doors and stainless especially (as many do.)
My heart stopped on this one, so I had to let you all know.

I bought one of these hats at the Universal Studios Hollywood about 10 years
ago.
Paid around $25.
It's a hard to find collectors Item now and I saw one on ebay about a year
ago selling for $270.

This is also very illegal.
You can probably "get away" with it in many states, especially the ones
that don't have safety/emissions testing.
The cat will slow exhaust flow, and probably steal some horsepower, but
it's in there for a reason- better for the environment.
If the heat shield is metal, you can probably get one custom made and
welded onto your cat for cheap....
