Taking the belt off will stop the noise if that"s where it's comming
from. There won't be any ill effects except that there will be no A/C.
A better course of action would be to remove the belt and if the noise
does go away all you have to do is replace the bearings in the idler
pulleys. This is not too hard a job as after removing the belt you are
halfway done! The bearings are not very expensive and it's hard to
drive the Delorean without A/C. When you order the bearings from a "D"
vender they will also send you an "O" ring to replace behind a cover
behind one of the idler pulleys. You can get the bearings localy but
just remember to get that "O" ring too.

I'm getting ready to purchase tires for my D (my wheels are at the shop
being
machined) I would like to stick with the stock sizes but the choices are
slim
and I would like to get something with a wild tread pattern like the
Yokohama AVS ES100. They make the front tire in this size but the rear
choices are 215/60/R15 or 225/50/R15 Are these sizes to far off of the
stock 235/60/R15 ?? The old tires I took off where 255/60/R15 and
they
looked great on the back.....

Subject: back to the future prop help and location!?
I saw a post on the list recently linking to site that had some pics
of a guy who had rented his car out to a local business. The business
had built a movie prop that replaced the louvres to make it look like the time machine. It wasn't a very good replica but was great considering it's "bolt-on-ability" and the fact that it did nothing damaging to the car. He stated that after the promo the prop was given
to him.
James Esprey of DMC H posted about an event going on in Lansing, Mi. A high school would like to use a D at thier prom, and i mentioned the existance of this quick-conversion prop. The coordinator of the event interested in doing a number of things BTTF style, and this is one.
Who owns this prop?
Could the owner contact tme off list please, to discus the possibilty of renting the prop?

No problem: did that on mine too untill i had time and money
to get my A/C fixed properly... We put on BOTH belts new,
new idler pulley bearings and refitted the system to R134a.
It's been a couple of weeks, temperatures arte dropping here,
nut I'm still glad to have the A/C working; should have done
this MUCH earlier...

Subject: A/C Mode Switch
Hello,
I was replacing my mode switch diaphram and light switch today. As
it would appear the previous owner installed a small amplifier
behind the panel, when i remove it it yanked all of my wires off of
the switch, and pulled numerous bulbs out. So now i have my console
removed to get access to all of my wires, only thing i need now is
a diagram on where to place the three terminals back on the switch.

Hey all,
I flew Jim Reeve down from Minnesota to help me with some
projects. I wanted to publicly thank him for his great work and let
you all know he's really a wiz at DeLorean wiring. One of the
projects was that we installed red LED third brakelights on my louver
by running the wires down the quarter panel and spliced them into the
brake light wires and the ground right before the plug that connects
them with the circuit board. They work perfectly. When the brake
lights come on, so do the red LEDs. I did the same thing with amber
LEDs for the turn signals. Wired the same way and sharing the ground
with the brakelights (from the plug going into the circuit board.)
The problem is when I hit the turn signal switch or the hazards
switch, the turn signals work as normal but the LEDs do not work along
with them. We checked polarity and they are wired just as the red
LEDs are, and the red ones work, just no joy on the amber ones.
Anyone have a similar problem or run into something like this? Let me
know, we're stumped!

Your A/C won't work.
Water pump is driven by alternator belt, so you won't kill the car.
But...
Bearings aren't expensive or difficult to replace. No joke -- they
cost less than an oil filter (probably the cheapest thing on these
little cars). Go ahead and buy a pair. You'll have them installed so
quickly that you will need to find some other activity to fill the
rest of your afternoon. I'm sure your vendor will walk you through the
process (I use a vise).

225/50/15 means that the tire is 225 millimeters wide and the side wall
height is 50% of the width. Of course the 15 means a 15" wheel. The stock
size was 235/60/15 so the 225/50 is 10 millimeters narrower ( a little less
than 1/2" )and the side wall is a little lower, 50% of 225 millimeters vs.
60% of 235 millimeters. That would result in a slightly smaller diameter
tire which would lower the final drive ratio a bit; not a bad thing as the
DeLorean is geared pretty high and the lower final drive will make the car
feel a slight bit quicker. Since you're going from a 255 tire the difference would be even more noticable. Fuel mileage will suffer slightly but not enough
to be a problem. I don't think handling would be affected dramaticaly either. I've thought about the AVS ES100's too and I can't imagine
10 millimeters narrower will be a problem. That only interperets to about
1/4" narrower on the each side of the wheel.

1 to 1.5 inches smaller...
Do you know how to read tire sizes? If not:
1st number is width of tire in mm at widest point of sidewalls, not tread
2nd number is height of tire in mm as a percentage of 1st number (60 =
60%)
3rd number is diameter of rim
You probably liked old tires because they filled wheel well. If so,
don't think you'll be happy with a lower profile.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do here - do you mean you've
wired up another pair of turn signals? What LEDs have you used? Are they
meant for 12v? Can you connect them to a 12v source and have them light up?

Hi All
For those who were at Memphis. you may have met myself and Rich showing
off his prototype automatic transmission governor. Built from scratch,
though using the original design as a template, this module has
(finally) been fitted to James Russel-Grant's car and shown to work
beautifully. To quote James:
"I am pleased to say that with the new GC installed my car shifts
beautifully, kicks down correctly and is smoother than ever"
The new governor has been designed professionally and as a drop-in
replacement for the original (unfortunately due to its nature you will
have to be able to use a soldering iron to fit it). It is based on the
original design though has several additions and modifictions to the
circuit to ensure longevity, and to correct original design flaws. Rich
also plans to add manually variable shift points for turbo users (like
him) and a semi-automatic add-on. All this is really easy to achieve.
The point to this e-mail is to ask "is anyone interested"? To get 10 of
these made would be prohibitive in both time and money, however to get a
larger volume made would mean each one would be very inexpensive. Please
