this is only my way of being different. like them, thanks, dont like
them, dont express any interest in them, but dont criticise what you have no
intent of being involved in. (said in respect). this is my car with my idea
to be different. i doubt our origional plastic facias are 30mph rated. i do
not intend on removing any safety equiptment, and as all know, the plastic
facias offer no protection from any dammage that can occur to any other
panel of the car.

Subject: Re: SS Fascias and headlights
There is no way that the bumpers were designed for a 30 MPH 'bump' test.
Maybe a 30 MPH-have your car towed to the dump test. When the back of
1537 was hit, it broke one of the reflectors in the turn signal, and bent
out the rear fascia a bit making a fold. Damage was sustained to the
rear quarter panel from the fascia. Point: if you get hit, it'll
probably cause damage. One might make the argument that the stainless
steel fascia will protect the quarter panels MORE. If the bolts are
welded to the stainless fascia, the fascia will be less likely to move
than on my car, where those stupid little bolts built into the plastic
popped out (like a dollar watch), letting the fascia hit the quarter
panel.
If you're afraid of damaging your car, leave it in your garage and let it
collect more dust.
Most newer cars have plastic bumpers- most older cars have the
steel/chrome bumpers... I had the privilege of seeing a mid-80's buick
obliterate a late-90s toyota corolla; The corolla was crumpled half way
up the hood, and the buick sustained slight damage to a quarter panel-
the chrome bumper didn't look like it was hit at all!

Possibly, can't see the outline of the tollbooth window, and the rear
of the car is wrong. Otherwise the nose clip, roofline, and
windshield angle are perfect! Judge for yourself, i video
capture "The Family Guy" every week, so i exported the frame image
for everyone and loaded it onto my webserver. Here is the address:

The factory installed Paris-Rohne starter used in the DeLorean is a heavy duty unit with a less than 5% failure rate @ 18yrs. There are two or three starters other than the original that will fit the PRV mounting.
The excellent construction, performance, reliability, and availability of the factory installed starter prevents me from recommending any alternative. The Bosch starters used in the Volvo 260 and 760 series engines do not fit the DeLorean mounting.

Subject: Fascias
I agree that SS fascias would be more vulnerable in a
crash. However as long as the original bumper pads are
used, there should be some protection. Wonder if the D
really has protection up to 30 mph anyway. All you
really need is protection for parallel parking. Are
you planning to use flexible "rubber" material for the
black lower portion of the fascia? Fred Lockett

Today while driving my D. it was about 92 degrees and my temperature gauge
never showed hot but when I stopped and cut off the engine it was over
flowing antifreeze through the overflow hose. The radiator fan never cut on.
Where do you think my problem is? Temperature gauge, fan, temperature
sending unit or other?
Thanks,

SEDOC is having a repeat performance of the 1999 Cruise-In on September 15 and 16 on Beautiful Lake Lanier in Georgia. Go to DMC Joe's website -- www.dmc.tv to get more details and register on-line. A highlight experience from last time was the candlelight dinner on the docks with abundant gourmet food provided by the best restaurants in Gainesville, GA. and we'll have this again. A picture of the setting is attached. Everyone enjoyed the casual, friendly outing immensely. Come on down and participate in the South's largest gathering of DeLoreans.

( These parts are readily available at the DeLorean shops: Moderator)
Hi list,
This note is directed to DMC Joe.
I tried to contact him via e-mail. No response for about a week.
I tried to call him, Which I will again.
I was asking him for a couple of parts. Does any one have anything like this
they might want to sell?
1. The white relay for interior lights.
2. A lense for the engine compartment light.
3. A piece of the black pinch metal that holds the screens in the lower
engine cover. It would be the longest piece.
If any one has anything like this for sale Please contact me.
My personal email is westiething@xxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks!!

To anyone out there who works on their car regularly...I would like
to express my gratitude for John Hervey. His knowledge of the
DeLorean, his parts inventory, and his friendliness are greatly
appreciated.
I would highly recommend any of John's parts, or giving him a call
for technical advice. He is very receptive to people's DeLorean
problems.
Keep up the good work, John!
PS: I, as John can vouch, recieve no compensation--whatsoever--for
my endorsement of John.

I can vouch for the Michelon's. I have them on the rear of my car.
They are the Pilot XGT H-rated. They handle very well, and (I think)
look better than the AVS tires.

If you want a used alternator, I have my original Motorola. I
replaced mine with the DeLorean 150 from SpecialTauto (John Hervey).
I'll sell you my old one if you want it.

Ben,
They are City Electric out of Syracuse, NY. Their Phone # is (315) 474-7841.
You can get the Philips bulbs but you have to but I think it was like 100 of
them but you can get the orasam bulb in packets of 10 for 90cents each. Plus
shipping. If for some reason the Phone number doesn't work Let me know I
will doubble check it.
Good luck!!

Subject: Car Shows
I got a question for everyone. After a year of ownership I finally started taking my car to car shows.
I've only been to 3 so far, 2 were actual car shows themselves and one was a car show at street festival
type event so there was a lot of people there not just for the car show. My problem/questiom is since one
of the unique things about the car is the doors abviously so I leave them up but what I found is that people
are not that respectful about cars when your at a festival and not just a car show itself. I had 3 people help
themselves to sit inside my car even with the Please Look but Don't Touch sign in the window. I'm not sure
if I want to take it to another event like that or not. So my question is has anyone else had this happen and
would it be considered "rude" or "stuck up" or something like that if I was to maybe put something like
yellow caution tape across the door opening to try and keep people out or what? Does anyone else do anything
like this?
On a side note, I was surprised to see another DeLorean at my last car show. It was a Dec. '81 build (2 months
after mine) but the VIN number was 10403. Mine is 05903. Would this other one be a Canadian Model or what?
Why the large difference in VIN's? I asked the guy if he was on the list but he said he wasn't so I tried to encourage
him to join. He might be on here by now.

True, the PRV could pass emissions testing no problem when it comes
to exhaust gasses. But, it would fail on the visual inspection when
the inspector tries to find the catalytic converter.

damage. Check it out for yourself.
