Yokohama AVS Intermediates are the way to go! The tires have a V
rating, and are matched for the front and back which means better
control. Never heard of "Spirit Aqua Flow GTX" tires, but I can
gurantee you that the Yoko's will get ALL of the water out from under
you! I've driven the Yokohama's in both drizzles and light rain all
the way up to moderate flooding. In both cases they have performed
excellently! When driving on a wet surface, you'd swear that it was
still dry underneath. Haven't heard very good things about the Eagle
GT's. From what I've been told they perform alright when dry, but
slide a bit when wet. Never driven on a good set of NCT's (mine were
rotten). Goodyear no longer makes the NCT's as you've probably heard
already, but I've been told that the Yoko's give a much better ride
anyhow.

I dont know if anyone was watching MAD TV tonight, but the first skit in
the episode had something that caught my attention fast. They were
doing a "replay" of a 1983 dating show. Well the "looser" date on the
show was said to own a DeLorean dealership. There was also a quick
cocaine joke in there too. But for people who don't know the history of
the car well, it wasn't really too insulting. Nothing directly against
it. Just thought I would share this with everyone.

things that you can do:
(1) don't park the car outside where they could get wet
(2) remove and repaint the hinges when they rust
(3) call rob grady and get powder-coated hinges (they look real nice)

Stain,
Try to start your car with out any modifications.It may start ok.If
not, then your other options are:
#1 ( In the book )Open the hood and remove the grey plug from the
control pressure regulator and replace the blue plug on the cold
start. Then unplug after cranking.
#2.( In the book ) You can run a jumper from the blue/black wire
in the thermo sensor connector to ground. This you can leave in place
till you get the thermo sensor replaced. But i wouldn't.
Any thing you do is a simulation of a hot start since your
by-passing the thermo sensor.
I your car is prone to ( not )starting quickly due to some other
problem , then the worst thing that could happen is flooding. If that
happens, then un plug the jumper or any other thing and let the car
sit for a while and re start w/o any mod's.
If the definition of Fire Hazard is now Hot Start. Then wait on
the part and don't drive the car. When you put the gray plug to the
blue plug is the same thing as ( Hot Start ). If the cold start valve
sticks open, that's ( hot start ), if the contacts on the thermo
sensor stick shut, that's ( hot start ). You can add a relay from
inside the car and do the same thing. Then un plug it. That's ( Hot
Start ). Why some people want to put fear in someone about fire
hazard doesn't make any sense. There are hundreds of things on the
De Lorean that could cause a fire, the most common is ( wiring ) and
under rated relays, circut breakers and so on.

Rob Grady doesnt sell the hinges. If you call any of the parts suppliers
they will say they are out of stock. If someone sells them please let us
know. I replaced mine from a used one I repainted. The only place you can
get them is off a parts car. Of course Rob probably has a couple in his
inventory as most all suppliers do from parts cars or maybe NOS, but in time
this will certainly be an item that will need to be remanufactured.

I remember reading a long time ago on the DML that DMC Houston has a
complete set of the manufacturing plans (blueprints, etc.) for all of the
pieces of the DeLorean -- and if memory serves, there were a few private
owners who had copies of some of those documents, too. Surely one of those
sources could find the plans for the engine cover hinges, as well as many
of the other short-supply items, and present them to a machine shop to have
them remanufactured? I'm not saying it would be easy, but I am saying that
it's possible.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about the plans -- Sunday afternoon football
and Coronas have a tendency to put my memory a little out of focus... ;-)

A higher amp alternator is only needed if you have certain conditions
and problems. As alternators heat up, the voltage and current goes
down. Then when you turn on lights, air conditioners, and fans come
on then the voltage and current to charge the battery lessens. The
more power your alternator has, the more it can keep up. Most general
alternators today are 105 amp but they won't support the loads in
certain conditions and they are working at full capacity. Thats why
I have the De Lorean 140 amp and built others up to 180 amp for
special applications.Our temp today in Dallas is 107 degrees, couple
that with heat under the hood and engine heat, the load goes up and
the alternator has to work harder. If you see your needle below the
13volt mark more than over, then you may want to question your
system???????

The ECU unit or the idle speed motor is most likley not working
properly, have you checked to make sure there is no vaccum leak. If
you need to borrow an ECU unit to test, i can loan you one.

Subject: dmc2 watch a good investment?
i was wondering about the dmc2 timepiece that is being offered and i'm curious of other peoples thoughts on if you think it is a good investment or not.
As most know its selling for about 3,000 dollars and reserves a new dmc2 sports car in your name, ( which who knows will actually come out)
but no matter if the car comes out or not the timepiece , in itself ,a stainless steel wonder , a part of the delorean history, may be worth something more in the future,
and i suppose if the new car comes out , the watch may be worth even more than if it doesn't--------
imagine owning a car and always being able to show it off by showing people your wrist , people that buy the car and didn't hear about the offer, like we did, will want one.
not to mention that the new car in itself might or might not be a good investment................only time will tell
so i would like to hear some thoughts on if you think the timepiece or the new car is a good investment to make.

I truely drove a Delorean for the first time yesterday. I picked up
4512 from Micah Frymans house on Saturday and it is better than I
ever imagined. Marty Maiers shocks are PERFECT! The rebuilt
steering rack is amazing. The sound of the newly redone engine is
great! And the transmission shifts like a dream.
The summers almost gone, but thats ok. I've still got a couple
months of good driving.

Subject: Fuel Filter Woes!!
Question for you guys... well my delorean has been
exhibiting "bucking" on acceleration... first thing i
did was replace my pickup line.. i did this... still
happing.. well.. i went back and checked today..
My fuel filter baggy at the end of the pickup line has
broken off the end of the hose and i have driven the
car twice since this has happened.. so im pumping in
unfiltered gas into the pump. My pump has been making
some groaing noise as well..
What am i facing now?

I recently bought a Delorean, and the state of virginia is requiring me to
get an emissions test. When i took it in to get tested the attendent said i
had a cracked exhaust manifold. But when i took it in to have the manifold
looked at they told me it was the head gasket. Does any of this sound
right?
