DMC list,
I found the D's Fan Blower Motor from this small auto
shop near where I live. It is the EXACT match for the
original D's fan motor. I just replaced mine; all you
have to do is unscrew about four screws that hold the
motor inplace, and it drops right out. Remove the
white fan assy. from the old one and install it on the
new motor; it matches EXACTLY and works PERFECTLY - no
more grinding noise and lots of air!
If anyone is interested, I can buy get it for you.
The cost is $50 (it should cost about $5 to $7 for S&H
= $55 to $57 total - not bad for the exact original).

To locate three major ground connections read message # 13558. Then
print it out for future reference.
While you're at it read message # 16319 about the trailing arm bolts.
I have had no major problems with ground connections but I thought
they may need a cleaning anyway.
The first one I tackled was the battery ground connection. I
proceeded to remove the bolt and the bracket it was holding in place
moved enough that I couldn't put the bolt back in. I put a jack
stand under the right rear rotor to take the weight off of the
trailing arm. Then I loosened the trailing arm bolt. This allowed
me to put the negative ground bolt back in. Message # 16319 says to
torque the trailing arm bolt using 55 FT/LBS WITH THE FULL WEIGHT OF
THE CAR ON THE SUSPENSION.
This is exactly what I did. The other ground connections I'll tackle
another day.

Two simple tests should locate your electrical problem.
TEST #1
With the engine at idle and accessories off the electrical system voltage should be between 13 and 14.5 volts.
With the engine at idle and all accessories on the electrical system voltage should be between 11 and 12.5 volts.
Repeat the last test (accessories on) with the engine idle at 1500 RPM, the system voltage should be 12.3 to 13.7 volts DC.
Measurements should be taken with a portable dc voltmeter with the electrical test leads connected between the jump start post and engine block.
If by any chance your DeLorean is equipped with the factory installed Ducellier; replace it.
Also check to see if your battery is discharging when the car is completely shut down. A slight battery drain overnight can cause low voltage at start up.
NOTE: Be aware that the dash mounted volt meter reads approximately 1 to 2 volts below the actual system voltage.

Water leaking through the front interior dome light is usually a result of a leak at one of the hinge and or T roof bolts. Apply RTV sealer to those areas, also check to see if any of the headliner fabric is protruding past the outside of the door inner seal at the roof area.

the stainless steel and black window lining?
Also, how would I stop the leaking?

I'm still having my unusual grinding problem in fourth gear, so I think I
may have to pay a transmission shop to tear it open and find out what's
wrong. Even though it doesn't act like a worn synchro, I may have it
replaced anyway since I don't want to have the tranny torn apart twice if it
is the problem. However I wasn't able to find the fourth gear synchro in
the parts catalog. Is it still available? Also I'm having a problem with
second gear that is most likely the roll pin (so I'm told) because sometimes
it refuses to engage without grinding. Does anyone have the part number for
this or is it just a standard pin found at an auto parts store?
Thanks for all your help. If anyone has any advice it would be much
appreciated. The car has only about 61,000 miles so I can't imagine
anything else in the tranny should be too worn.

Try spraying the switch contacts with electrical contact cleaner spray or WD-40. Keep in mind that the factory installed window regulators and motors have an extremely high failure rate therefore your problem may be more involved than an intermittent window switch.

The oxygen sensor used in the DeLorean crosses over to several other Bosh equipped cars. The sensors sold by our store and the other full service DeLorean parts suppliers contain the factory specified lead wire and connector. A non DeLorean sensor may not have the proper connector and or lead wire length. The wire is of the coax type and not easily spliced without compromising the sensors performance.

MY Delorean's back in 1987-1988 Go to the OLD archives,and type in
vin # 16686 and YOU will see WHY that car HAS that hood along with

Subject: Fuel Line Leak
I have two questions for the group.
I had just put a couple of bucks of fuel in the D and went for a dive when I smelled a very strong fuel smell. As I pulled over, I noticed a leak coming from under the front of the car. As I headed home rather quickly, I removed the panel to access the fuel tank and noticed the orange fuel line had two slices in it where the leak was coming from. It only leaks with the car running. The question I have is whether or not that orange colored fuel line is under any pressure since it looks rather easy to replace or are their any "unknowns" I need to be aware of when I go to replace it? Remember, you are dealing with someone not mechanically inclined!
Second, ever since I took apart my mode switch to have it stop hissing, I no longer get any airflow out of the car (no vent or AC). The blower works but no air at all. The vents are all open. Any thoughts?

With the key out of the ingition, and either OR both of the dome
lights in the "delay" position, as soon as the delay is over, why
would the door ajar light illuminate? There is a slight current also
feeding the light.
When BOTH of the lights are in the "off" position, the door ajar
light goes out.
When the ignition is ON, and either of the the dome lights are in the
delay position, the door ajar light does NOT illuminate after the
delay shuts the lights out.
Short in the system? Electrical feedback? Bad relay?
How do I check it?
Any other thoughts?

Subject: Cleaning DeLoreans
I found a couple of products that work great for cleaning a DeLorean as I
did after a long road trip to Houston. The first is made by the same company
that sells Seafoam fuel treatment. It's called Bug Off . You spray it on and
three minutes later the bugs hose off. It also is safe for glass. The second
is for the black trim items. From time to time there have been comments on
the list about various products that work but none ever did for me. None of
the Armor All types ever did a good job. Miguiars sells a product for
treating tires called Endurance High Gloss. It's a purple grape smelling gel
that works great on the black trim . Like all things in life, moderation is
best. Use it sparingly and it makes the black bumpers and trim look new.
