[DMCForum] Tolerance

Here's what I don't understand - maybe it's because I'm weird, but, here goes:

Why do people get so excited around this time of year about how others
are greeted? Why can't people be more tolerant in terms of accepting
greetings? For example, if a Jewish person tells me "Happy Hanukkah",
I'm cool with that. That's his holiday, he is wishing me a happy one,
and I think that's nice.

It's a friendly gesture. I don't see why people can't respect and
appreciate that, instead of getting upset. I certainly didn't mean
anything with my "Merry Christmas"; I celebrate Christmas, it's
natural for me to say that. I thought I was being polite.
