The switch isn't a easy peice to reproduce, it looks like. There are 6
or so pieces which need to be cast, just for the plastic. Then you've
print the icon on the front. Next you've got to stamp the metal pieces
for the copper contacts, source a spring, and install a light bulb.
And THEN assemble the whole thing! It's tiny, but a bit more
complicated than you'd think a headlight switch should have to be.
But then again, the DeLorean is the only car that I've ever seen with
a 2 position, push button switch for the head lights. Every other
vehicle has used either a pull knob with a built-in rheostat, or a
twist switch. But DMCH can't redesign the switch over to these. I
don't know if liability is so much of a factor, as is the fact that
everyone would bitch that it's not original, and hence would then
avoid buying one on purpose.
