You're right on target with everything... especially  Ed.  It was
amazing to learn that he once had a big heart.  Upon purchasing my
first DMC12, he gave me a very personal lecture.  He told me I was,
among other things, too young to own such a car.  While that may
hold true for 90% of America's youth, it wasn't for me.  I was very
wise for my age, had big plans for my future and had the connections
to get it done.  However, after that speech he gave me in his office
(combined with other "Age Nay-sayers") I lost heart with a great
many things in life.
However, I do agree that the value of the car must be raised.  Why
do so many cars fall into disrepair?  Lack of prestige & percieved
value.  Why spend tens of thousands to maintain a car that retails
for less than a 2005 Toyota Corolla?  It is disheartening to tell
fans the "price" of the car... only to have them quietly walk away,
head hanging low.  They are so disappointed!  I've started fibbing
just to keep their heart from breaking.
